Governor's Study
|
Park-McCullough is a time capsule, preserving 100 years in one family's life. The house is filled with artwork, furniture, artifacts, costumes, toys, and literature, in addition to our carriages and carriage barn. Nearly all of the over 100,000 items in our collection have been a part of the four generation Hall-Park-McCullough family and have remained in their original context within Park-McCullough for decades.
What makes Park-McCullough truly unique is that everything remains as it was, for the one hundred year period (1865-1965) that the original family lived in the house. The 19th century European artwork acquired by Trenor Park remains a vital part of the collection. The desk, embosser, inkwell, and ledger used by Governor John G. McCullough remain in his study. Governor Hiland Hall's law library has been documented and remains intact. Lizzie's portable writing desk, her musical instruments, and her unique twin brass beds remain as they were. The collections of Hall Park McCullough, a great collector of Americana, remain intact, lending historic context to the house and life of the time. Personal items such as hairbrushes, books, pictures, eyeglasses, puzzles, and stereoscopes, show that the mansion was a real family home.
Park-McCullough is a unique treasure that documents a grand and glorious time in America's history--no visitor leaves disappointed.
