Percy and Hall Park's Toys

The kinds of toys that Percy would have played with and maybe even have been given for his birthday are typical of the toys children played with during the middle and late 19th century. The toys that belonged to Percy's older cousin, Hall Park, when he was a little boy are still in his room in the mansion today. He played with a tricycle that had a horse's head on the front ; a sailboat, toy soldiers, a toy bear, and a soldier's helmet. Other popular Victorian toys were hoops, marbles, kaleidoscopes, tops, and yoyos. Bess, Ella, and their little sister Esther would have played with dolls, doll houses, paper dolls, jacks, and stuffed animals. Boys and girls both liked to play with optical-illusion games. The McCullough Family had a large collection of stereoscope so that they could view pictures in 3-dimensions .
