Band Announced for Oktoberfest
The Rymanowski Brothers Orchestra has been chosen as the band for the First Annual Oktoberfest on October 15, 2011, 10 a.m to 6 p.m. on the grounds of Historic Park-McCullough. Presented jointly with the NorShaft Lions Club, Oktoberfest will be a day of food and beverages, vendors, tours of The Big House, and music, music, music. Bring your dancing shoes!
Founded in 1947, the Rymanowski Brothers Orchestra is renowned throughout the Capital District of New York State. The legacy began in late 1947 in Cohoes NY with brothers John and Alex and has sustained a vital presence to the present day. Not only is the orchestra a prime favorite in the Capital District, it is one of the longest-running bands in the nation.
The band expanded to an eight and nine piece orchestra in 1949. During the late 1940s and through the 1950s, they recorded on the Lamb, Decca and Stella Record labels. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, John’s sons, Dennis and Gerry, joined the band which then became a six-piece group.
In 1974 the band recorded an LP entitled, “We Believe In Polkas”. Their newest recording, “It’s About … TIME”, was released in 2010 and was an immediate hit. Demand for the CD is overwhelming and it is hard to keep the title in stock. Currently it is being aired on all Polish-American programs nationwide as well on Internet stations worldwide.
In their sixth decade as a “family band”, the Rymanowski Brothers Orchestra has performed at just about every venue imaginable - weddings, anniversaries, polka dances, picnics, festivals, as well as on radio and television programs. The group not only plays the best in polka music but has the versatility to play a wide variety of American Pop and American Standards to please just about everyone. But polka will be front and center at the Oktoberfest on October 15. You won’t be able to keep yourself from dancing!
