"100 Years of Wedding Fashions" Exhibition

On August 30, 1871, Eliza Hall Park and John G. McCullough were married at 8 p.m. in what is now called the Ladies Parlor of "The Big House", thus creating the Park-McCullough family line. In celebration of the 140th anniversary of that event, there is an exhibition of wedding fashions from the Park-McCullough collections on view throughout the House. The styles in the exhibition range from 1866 to 1931 and include accessories and shoes as well.

Also on exhibit is a display of wedding-related memorabilia from the collections, including the announcement of the 1871 Park-McCullough wedding; the book recording the names of friends and family members who received announcements of the marriage; a lock of hair that Lizzie sent to John in a letter dated October 6, 1869; drawings made by Lizzie and sent to John as enclosures or actually drawn on the letter and other charming remembrances.

The exhibition objects are placed in different rooms throughout the House.
