Volunteering at Park-McCullough

Find your place in history - Join us at Historic Park-McCullough

Volunteers are always needed at Historic Park-McCullough. They are essential to the fulfillment of our mission and service to the public. Please consider giving a few hours of your time to help us preserve and interpret this beautiful site. Volunteers of all ages and interests are welcome.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Docents
Docents lead visitors in their discovery of this Treasure Chest of a House. Enjoy the fun of watching people discover the beauty of Park-McCullough and enjoy the stories of the interesting and creative people who lived here.
  • Gift Shop
People from all over the world visit Historic Park-McCullough. In the Gift Shop, you have the chance to make their acquaintance as you assist with purchases, sell tickets for tours, and enjoy the opportunities to introduce others to one of "Vermont's Jewels".
  • Seamstresses and Tailors
Put your tailoring and sewing skills to good use to produce copies of items in our costume collection for use in our public and school programs.
  • Actors
Here's your chance to indulge that talent you know you have for creating characters and personalities. Enjoy the chance to portray family members and their friends and acquaintances for reenactments of historical events and celebrations.
  • Research and Curatorial Assistants
Special treasures require special handling. If you enjoy learning more about life in the 19th and early 20th centuries, if you enjoy historic costumes, textiles, furniture, and photographs - and more - and want to help protect and preserve them, this job is for you. We will train you in the ways to handle these precious items. It is a fun and rewarding experience.
  • Gardens
If you have a green thumb, or an inclination toward one, there are many opportunities to work in the gardens from mulching and weeding to planning for the display of annuals and design and preparation of window boxes.
  • "Handy Person's Corner"
Are you one of those people with many talents to solve small problems ranging from a loose doorknob to mending a window screen? There are many such tasks onsite over the course of a year and we welcome your assistance.
